Overview:
A major project of cleaning and restoring the hot water pipes and circulating system with a state-of-the-art epoxy lining is underway at Quail Creek Condominiums on Black Mountain Road in Mira Mesa by San Diego Plumbing and Pipelining Services and Water Epoxy of San Diego.
With 16 buildings containing a total of more than 200 units, it is one of the largest epoxy-lining projects ever undertaken in San Diego County. In an unusual “shoot out” evaluation of competing bids for the job, the Quail Creek Condominium Homeowners Association hired both San Diego Plumbing and Pipelining Services and a competitor to each do a test building. San Diego Plumbing and Pipelining won out and work began in earnest on September 11, and was completed ahead of schedule.
Solution:
The Water Epoxy process stops the leaks without the fuss and muss of demolition. Hoses are connected to every angle stop and valve location, and the hoses run outside to a compressor and corundum cleaning equipment.
The epoxy flows into and through all pits, crevices, pinholes and fractures, bonding to the cleaned and prepared walls of the pipes. The inside of the pipes are coated with Curapoxy epoxy pipe coating material at an average thickness of 16 mils. The Curapoxy system equipment is capable of shooting the epoxy to a distance of 100 feet with what is described as “a vigorous vortex of hot air” while maintaining thickness uniformity.
After the coating has cured in a short five hours, a pressure test is applied at 120 psi to assure a leak-free system. San Diego Plumbing and Pipelining Water Epoxy’s work at Quail Creek carries an interior/extrerior warranty of 15 years.
Water Epoxy has many advantages, not only for condominiums such as Quail Creek, but for any commercial project including office buildings, medical centers and industrial complexes.

In addition, Curapoxy is thicker and more reliable than our competitors’ products, and it has the required commercial rating of 180 degrees, which is a higher temperature than our competitors can handle.
